OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and Business


The OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and Business aims to include fundamental expertise in the main areas of business accounting and financial management. This allows the learner to develop the skills required to successfully boost company growth in terms of budgets and cash flows.

This qualification is intended to help accountants advance their careers. After the completion of this course, the learner can qualify for the next level. Qualification awarded by OTHM at RQF Level 3 represents practical knowledge, skills, capabilities, and competencies that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.

  • Relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 3 Award/Diploma or at the level of GCE/GCSE or equivalent qualification
  • Learners over 21 with relevant management experience
  • International students whose first language is not in English, they will need to have score of 5.5 or above in IELTS Examination or equivalent.

Three different types of qualification are:

  • Award is achieved with 1 – 12 credits
  • Certificate is achieved with 13 – 36 credits
  • Diploma is achieved with at least 37 credits

The OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and Business consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Learners must request before enrolment to interchange unit(s) other than the preselected units shown in the SBL website because we need to make sure the availability of learning materials for the requested unit(s). SBL will reject an application if the learning materials for the requested interchange unit(s) are unavailable.

Learners are not allowed to make any request to interchange unit(s) once enrolment is complete.

The aim of this unit is to familiarise learners with the accountant’s environment in relation to different organisation structures, environmental factors, professional ethics and regulation.

The aim of the unit is to develop learners’ skills in using quantitative methods including representing information to inform decision making in an organisation, and using statistical methods to provide meaningful financial and accounting information, applying these skills to a real world case study.
